About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

James, This is the model that many of your students will be using when they are out in the workplace. You are getting them ready to work together toward a common goal. The more skill they develop in this area the more successful they are going to be their careers. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cynthia, Repetition is a powerful learning tool and you are using it in your class. The part that helps it to be effective is that you are using a variety of ways to get the students through the same material. After a few sessions like this the content will start to become a part of their working memory bank available for recall as needed. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cynthia, Thanks for sharing this story with us. It is things like this that keep us coming back to the classroom or lab year after year. You have impacted the life of this student and she is looking to you as a model of what she wants to be. I wish both you and she much success in the future. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cynthia, Good to hear because the result will be students that are patient focused when they leave the program. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
LaShonda, This is such an important thing for students to know and become familiar with. The more they learn how to work with others the better. Most all of us will be working with others at one time or another in our careers. We all need to learn how to work as a team to reach a common goal. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Pauline, Thank you for sharing this support with us. This is a great way to keep the students moving forward in the course and it helps the student mentors develop their leadership skills. A positive outcome for everyone. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cheryl, Thank you for these points on enthusiasm. They are right on and something we need to think about as we do our instructional planning. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Timothy, I wish you continued teaching success. It is easy to drop into a routine and lose some of our enthusiasm for our subject. We need to take a deep breath and bring excitement into the classroom each time we meet with our students. The results will be a much higher level of engagement by our students and we will feel so much better about our teaching. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jacqueline, Yes, we do. Students like change of pace and variety in their learning so the more we can offer these two the more engaged our students will be. Thank you for your comments about how to keep the interest of our students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Robert, Right you are. Passion for your field and enthusiasm for teaching about it is catching. This is how excitement is generated in the classroom and lab for and with the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
