About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Gustavo, Thank you for these comments on goals and objectives because they outline the value of having clearity in both goals and objectives. This keeps the students informed about where the course is going and what they need to accomplish before the end of the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gustavo, This is how you become the instructor of merit that you want to be. Great way to promote learning and career development in your classes. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brenda, What are some strategies that you have found successful in helping them to follow through? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Danielle, This is a such a valuable thing for your students to learn. You are helping them to be skilled at thinking through situations and striving for solutions. This is how they are going to become skilled at problem solving since the majority of their work is going to be problem solving in relation to a muscle/limb/joint that is not working as it should and needs some form of PT to get it working correctly again. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kleinkauf, This is such a great example of how critical thinking is developed. They have to develop self discipline to the point they will give up on the quick and easy run to the solution process and start to think through exactly what the problem is and how to solve it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Colette, Yes, you can. They will help your students to see the segments as well as the whole as the work through the different concepts. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Angela, This is a great use of graphic organizers in your field. With all that your students have to learn in this field they are a great way for the students to set up the organizers and use them as they progress through the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Colette, This is a very good point. Immediate application really helps with the retention of content. Immediate use of newly acquired knowledge is the saying I learned during my teacher prep days and it has stuck with me over the years. A simple idea that has tremendous application. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Angela, Good way to find balance for your students as well as helping them to work within their preference areas. This type of interaction and application I know increases the content retention for them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Robert, Right you are so this is why we need to work very hard to show both relevance and application in our instructional delivery and content. This is how we will engage our students and keep their interest for the duration of our courses. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
