About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Kyle, Students really like and relate to stories from the field. These stories increase the value of the content to them because they learn through the stories how they can apply what is being taught. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Irving, What are some methods that work for you and your students? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Irving, This is why there needs to be a change of pace and variety in the instructional delivery so their attention will remain on the instructor and the class. The more they feel a part of the class the higher their retention rate will be. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kyle, You are helping the students to go from theory to application with your approach. This really increases their retention of the content as well as expands their skill development. A win win for everyone. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Irving, What are some ways that you keep you students engaged and motivated. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gleb, Right you are so we need to establish a way to get all students engaged as we start off a new course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Robin, You are providing such a valuable set of supports to your students since their major barriers to student success are the life challenges they face outside of school. The more those challenges can be handled the more focused the students can be in their studies and career development. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Damon, Good way to set the stage for student success. From that point forward it is up to them to be successful. If they are will to invest the time and effort needed in the course then they will earn a good grade. If not aren't then there are consequences that they will suffer and they need to realize that as well. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Rebecca, Good advice for all instructors. We need to be creative in our instructional planning so we can reach each of our students. Once they start having success in the class they will have a higher level of self confidence which helps them to see how they are moving toward their career goals. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Damon, This is a good way to get a "read" on your class. Then you can do your instructional planning in away that more accurately targets their learning needs. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
