About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Katherine, This is walking the walk and just not talking the talk. You are providing the needed support so your students know you care about them and their success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Katherine, Yes, you are! Keep up the good work and congratulations, a bit early on your PhD. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Katherine, The end product are your students and you are demonstrating to them what a professional in your field should be like. This is why you are having the success you are with your students and I commend you for the effort you are putting forth in this area. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Marshall, Like the way you think and connect your content. This is a fun way to get your point across while also reinforcing the content in the minds of your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brandon, This is key because no one likes a surprise when it comes to course requirements or expectations. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, Yes it does. The learning environment should reflect the latest technology and equipment that is used in the field for which the students are preparing to enter. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Marshall, This is a great strategy to use. Thank you for sharing it with us. I know it will be of value to other instructors looking for ways to kick off a new course. I am sure your students really like this approach and the fact they get to know about each other this way. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Sherrie, Right you are. It is easy for students to get worn down as the course progresses and they start to lose interest. By doing something different you can get them excited again and that will help them to see the value of their continued effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Casey, This is what makes teaching exciting for the students and fun to be a part of as the instructor. Passion for one's field and enthusiasm for teaching about it goes a long in in helping "sell" students on what is being taught. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Casey, This is such a critical part of the teaching process. Students need to see you in a light that shows you care about them and their success. The more you can do this the more involved they will be in the class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
