About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Trevor, Right you are so we have to make our first impression within the first few seconds of the class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gary, Well said and clear to understand. This reduces confusion and sets the expectations our for the students and then the class can proceed from there. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Liz, This is a good strategy to get your students thinking about how much effort goes into information sharing be it as an instructor or a student making a presentation. You are increasing their perception of the value of the course with this effort. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Sybil, This is true. We can receive information in more than one learning preference area but generally we have one we prefer over the others if we have a choice, but it listening to information, reading about it or doing it ourselves. This is why I think it is good to offer instruction in all of the areas at different times in the course so each student will have a chance to receive information via his or her preference area but also develop skills in using the other delivery areas. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ronald, The more variety you have in your delivery the more engaged your students will be so you are on the right track with this goal. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Trevor, You comment about being harder on themselves than the instructor is so true. As their learning leader we can help them achieve their goals while helping to relieve some of the pressure that comes with being a student. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gary, These are tough situations to step into as instructors. Sounds like you have the confidence and leadership ability to see how to manage this situation and that you are winning your students over in this course. I wish you the best. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gary, Good point for all instructor to remember. They do have a back up to use to keep the class moving forward. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Liz, This is a great way to get their buy in into the lab classes and getting them to start thinking like health care professionals. Plus, I am sure they have a lot of fun with their effort to develop their best clinical skills. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Trevor, Not uncommon for for many of us. Keep it as a high priority goal and you get get better at it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
