These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Kareme, This is not only talking the walk but is also walking the walk. You are showing them the ROI they will receive as a result of being successful in your course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kareme, Like the way you approach your students and your classes. It is upon a foundation such as you are creating that learning occurs. The human factor in teaching is what engages students and helps them to see the value associated with what is being taught. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Reinaldo, This is how a positive first impression is made and rapport developed. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Sheniqua, This is an essential element of being a learning leader. We are a model for both our field as well as our field education. We need to always make sure we are modeling dress, language, and conduct that reflects the highest standards of our field. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kale, This is a critical time and this first impression time is the foundation upon which the course is going to build. So by having a comfortable and engaging first class the students get settled in and are ready for the rest of the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Reinaldo, The syllabus gets everyone on the same page in terms of course polices, requirements and expectations. Without a well prepared one the students will be guessing as to what is required and that is not the way to conduct a class. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kareme, Well said and I love the quote you used because as you have illustrated it is so true. The more we bring structure to our goals and objectives the more honed in our students will be in terms of outcomes. This sets up a win win situation for everyone. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Sheniqua, Right you are in terms of how to establish a professional development plan for yourself. The key is to one, have the plan and two, keep working the plan. By doing so there will be ongoing improvement and increased student engagement. Thanks for sharing this plan with us. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Jeffery, As a result of your effort in the area of learning theory and instructional delivery I know you are going to enhance your abilities to reach students and help them to grow in their knowledge and skills. I wish you continued teaching success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ana, Well said and a point we need to remember each time we interact with students. We are being observed and so we need to always conduct ourselves in a professional manner. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
