About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Kathryn, This is how instructional improvement occurs. We need to always be on the look out for ways to become better instructors. The result of improvement is better instruction, happier students and more satisfaction on our part. Gary
Hi Kathryn, Isn't so much easier to teach when you have set the stage with a smile and a positive approach? You create an atmosphere of excitement and the students will become a part of it as you well know. Keep up the great attitude. Gary
Hi Craig, Right you are about being a more effective instructor by learning all you can about the learning preferences of your students. A by product of this is that you get to be creative in your instructional planning and this helps to keep your teaching more interesting for both your students and yourself. Gary
Hi Elizabeth, Go coach. This is what makes Team Education work. Getting everyone involved, motivated and putting forth effort for a common goal. Gary
Hi Dorothy, I like your approach of generating a discussion on the syllabus and objectives. This shows your students the value you attach to both and that you are going to be using them as guides throughout the course. Gary
Hi Lucy, I understand your comments about the current group of students you have and feeling that competition isn't the way to go with them. This is the sign of a good instructor because you are "reading" each class and making adjustments in order to meet their individual needs. Great job! Gary
Hi Earl, Good call letters for the radio stations of success. Thanks for sharing them with us. Gary
Hi Jim, I can really appreciate what you are going through because I have been through it myself. The unknown is traumatic when you are planning your instructional delivery. I wish you the best as you move through the next three weeks. Gary
Hi Laura, This can happen with students. What you need to do is to make sure you share essential information in conjunction with the slides that the students need to write down along side the slides. This way you keep them focused on the slides for the content as well as the additional information that is being given to support the slides. Gary
Hi Thomas, What are some of the types of motivation that you use with your students? Thanks in advance for your input. Gary
