Hi Jack, Having been researching MI for over 20 years I have developed a solid foundation for how the intelligences can be assessed and identified. The assessment is called Talent Key. Once the assessment is done we then share with each student their three most focused intelligence areas. From their schools develop their learning strategies for their students based upon the results of the assessments. Hi Tonia, Well said. Excitement is contagious! We need to remember that each time we step into the classroom. We have a great job don't we? Gary
Hi Linda, These students need our support because they often feel that they can be successful in the course. With support and encouragement they can move from great concern to confident contributions when given the chance to share their knowledge and life experiences. Gary
Hi Joseph, Great to hear. It is key for every student to feel a part of the class and make contributions. The slow but sure process helps them to gain confidence in their ability to share their perspectives. Gary
Hi Mark, You are right about the need for sharing the "road map" for the course. What are some of the methods you use to help your students to understand the road map and get started on the course journey. Gary
Hi Michelle, Good point about the need for students to work together and learn how to interaction with others. As we all know a network of contacts is needed as we move into the field. So the more social skills they develop they better prepared they are going to be make career progress. Gary
Hi Michelle, Right you are about the need to get the students focused on the fact they can be successful in the upcoming course if they are willing to put forth the effort. Something I do after sharing with them the syllabus and the assignments is to have a activity that they can be successful with, have fun doing, and getting to know the other students. The really gets them motivated about the upcoming course content. Gary
Hi Michelle, Your comments have captured in an inspirational way the reasons why students can be successful in their educational efforts. Your reasons for them to feel accepted are dead on and they need to be reminded of these reasons throughout their educational experience. Gary
Hi Jeffrey, Congratulations on your work toward your PhD. You have a great background educationally as well as your real life experiences. By being open to observing others, making changes in your instructional delivery, and being creative you are moving forward with a great professional development plan. Your students are going to benefit each and every time you teach a course. Keep up the great job you are doing. Gary
Hi Kim, Good set of questions. These help the students to reflect why they are enrolled and where they are hoping to take their careers. Also, their answers help you to get to know them better. This is a win win for everyone. Gary
