About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Marjorie, Welcome to the teaching profession. I wish you much success in helping to educate the next generation of hygienists and leave a legacy of professionalism for them to follow. I know you are going to do well as an educator by the comments you have made and the professional development plan you have created for yourself. Gary
Hi Jonathan, It is amazing how a little success can be a big motivator. Your method is helping the struggling students to see that success can be theirs if they will put forth the effort. Well done! Gary
Hi Marjorie, Good strategy. This way you are helping the students to see the relevancy of what you are teaching along with the application as a result of your sharing your own experiences. This connecting of the dots between school and the work world is very important for the students to understand early in their student careers. Gary
Hi Deborah, This is a good strategy because of all that the night students have encountered during the day. They are generally tired, often hungry and involved in trying to keep up with life. They are dedicated because they are enrolled in school but it is easy for them to get distracted from why they are there and their course work. Anything we instructors of night students can do to help them stay engaged is a plus for their career goals. Gary
Hi Brian, I wish you success with your educational studies as well as your teaching. You are living the life of your students. This way when they complain about life and all the pressure you can share with them your own methods of keeping a bit of sanity and surviving. Gary
Hi Andrew, Great way to set the tone before and during the class. You are bringing career experience and field knowledge to the classroom. This is what the students will need when they are out in the field trying to develop their own careers. Gary
Hi Cyndy, I like your approach to teaching. You are bringing the human factor into it. Teaching doesn't need to be brutal. By having compassion and understanding you will demonstrate to your students your willingness to help them to be successful. This will be a win win for everyone. Gary
Hi Chris, Good point. These are adults with specific career goals in mind. Knowing what these goals are will really help in planning instructional delivery and content. Gary
Hi Melissa, So true. If you aren't excited and enthused it is for sure your students won't be. Gary
Hi Terry, Right you are about keeping current. At times it seems like keeping up is taking a drink out of a fire hose. To much too fast. But your plan to attend conventions like the National Assoc. of Broadcasters is good one because they will bring to you at that moment in time the latest and greatest. Gary
