About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Nacole, This is a great way to improve your instructional delivery while enabling your students to be a part of your professional development. You can customize your instruction throughout the course as a result of their input and this really helps you to create a connection with the students. Gary
Hi Dina, Welcome to teaching. I wish you much success as a new professional in what I think is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding professions one can do. You have a very well thought out approach to your classroom and what you want from your students. You are going to do well as an teacher and model for your students. Gary
Hi Nacole, Good strategy for classroom management. You are setting the students up for success while reducing the opportunities for distracting behavior. Gary
Hi Betty, Good plan for earning the respect of your students while developing rapport with them. By showing them the relevancy of the course content you are helping them to make the connections between the classroom and the real world. Good job. Gary
Hi Wendy, All of these elements are critical for creating an environment that says that learning is going to occur here. This helps to increase the engagement level of students to the point that they want to be a part of the learning process. Gary
Hi Robert, I am sure this really captures the attention of your students. Once when I was taking such a course we walked around the campus taking samples from door knobs, desk tops, etc.. Talk about the "yew" factor. There were germs everywhere and as a result of learning this I became fascinated with this whole area. Was a great engagement tool for me and the rest of the class. Gary
Hi Alicia, Good point. Physical comfortable and mental acceptance necessary for students to become and stay engaged in the learning process. Gary
Hi Tanya, You are teaching a critical academic subject and the more you can do to help the students become engaged the greater good you are doing for them. Your different strategies help them to see relevancy and application to what they are studying. Gary
Hi Robert, What are some of the methods you use to keep your students focused on the material and engaged in the learning process? Thanks in advance for your input. Gary
Hi Michelle, Good example of valuing student opinions and input. Plus, this helps us to stay at the top of our game as we are teaching our content to others. Gary
