About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Hi Dinesh, Right you are. The key is the development of those examples so the students will see both relevancy and application of the content. Gary
Hi Malak, This is why it is so important to segment your instruction. That way you can pace it for your students as needed. Gary
Hi Emilie, Keep exchanging information, tips and strategies. This is how we all grow and develop our teaching abilities. Gary
Hi Asma, Good to hear because sometimes online students can feel forgotten even though they aren't. By reaching out to them as you do you reduce the chance for isolation. Gary
Hi Destiny, Good strategy. You have their attention and engagement while sharing content. This is a real growth opportunity for them. Gary
Hi Melonie, Mentoring is a major part of what we do as instructors. So we need to be aware of when and how we can encourage and support our students so they will remain in the program and continue to make progress toward their career goals. Gary
Hi Melonie, So true. Trust, respect and rapport are all essential ingredients for teaching success. Gary
Hi Melonie, Good way to make college real for these students. It is their job at this point and they need to respond to the demands of that "job" just as they do at their paid employment. We can't let them forget that. Gary
Hi Barry, I am always surprised at students when they realize that what they are learning can be applied in real life. "Why do they think there are colleges that teach these topics?" So the more we can help them connect the dots between the content and life the better prepared they will be when they graduate. Gary
Hi Michelle, So true. This is why we can't overlook the environment in our planning efforts. Gary
