About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi John, Good point. There are so many different aspects of a positive first impression and they all revolve around being professional at all times. Gary
Hi Patricia, Well said. It is the little things that go a long way to help engage the students, such a warm greeting. Gary
Hi Mohammed, Good idea. If the students are presented with the image of a professional educator ready to help them learn it sets the stage for positive interaction and growth on the part of the students. Gary
Hi Sandra, I go to elementary and secondary instructional strategies websites and see what they are sharing. I then take that approach and modify it to be appropriate for my students and then I have a game ready to go. There are many of the websites out there so just explore a little bit to see what you can find. Gary
Hi Kimberly, This is a great strategy for wrapping up a class segment. Gives you a great amount of information in terms of where to take the class next. Gary
Hi Christopher, Good ideas that I know will result in effective and efficient learning. Keep up the good work of looking for ways to expand your skills at reaching students and I know you will have a great teaching career. Gary
Hi Jesse, This is a great read of yourself and how you are approaching your interactions with students. I know this introspection will be of value to you and your students as you decide how to reinforce and encourage your students. Gary
Hi All, Good points about how to expand your professional expertise and explore the development of your instructional style. What has been your most effective growth strategy that you would like to share with other instructors? Thank you in advance for your comments about this. Gary
Hi Veronica, Right you are. We share them with the students to give them a general idea of where the class is going to go but it does come back to how the instructor uses the goals and objectives to guide the class. Gary
Hi Carl, Maybe you could develop mini-lectures of key law concepts and use the segment to introduce what the students will be using when they do the cases. Gary
