About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Maria, Good list of things to do. What are some other strategies you use with your students to keep them engaged? Gary
Hi Kathy, This is a good strategy. Thanks for sharing it with us. This way the students will know the correct way to code as well as having the content reinforced in their minds. This will help them to store the correct information in their working memories. Gary
Hi Kathy, You are bringing the best of two educational factors to your classroom and students, your experience and your enthusiasm. This sets the stage for an exciting and engaging course for your students. Instructors need to reflect on these two components as they prepare for their classes. Gary
Hi Kathy, Good way to customize your course based upon student needs. This is such an important course the more targeting you can do the greater the success rate is going to be. Gary
Hi Radha, Good way to show support to and for your students. This way they know what to do when external forces come into play that might affect their studies. Gary
Hi Carolyn, Good plan for learning how you can offer variety in your instructional delivery. Instructional delivery expertise comes from observing others, attending and taking professional development courses and being creative, all of which you are doing. You are well on your way in developing your expertise as an instructor. Gary
Hi Glenn, This is so critical for students to know and understand. By knowing what it takes for course success the students can get settled in and move forward. Gary
Hi Glenn, Well said. The more "ah ha" moments we can have both as students and instructors the richer our lives are going to be. So we need to work hard in our instructional planning to provide "ah ha" opportunities. Gary
Hi Sandy, Good way to offer variety to your students. The change of pace helps to keep them engaged. Keep up the good work. Gary
Hi Rachelle, This is a good way to approach providing different learning preferences. You are giving your students different learning opportunities throughout the course and these opportunities will enable them to have success if they will put forth the effort. Gary
