About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Jared, Great way to start a class off in a good way. Your expectations and polices are made clear and the students can see how they can accomplish the requirements and be successful. Gary
Hi Jennifer, You are helping the students to "connect the dots" between course content and career application. The more you can do this the greater the retention of content is going to be. Gary
Hi Kerry, I commend you for your creative approach to making math come alive for students. Math is not the favorite subject of a lot of students so the more relevancy and application that can be made the better. Keep up the good work. Gary
Hi Jennifer, This is a good thing to provide to students as they need ongoing reminders of due dates and expectations, even when they have been covered in the syllabus and first day orientation. Gary
Hi Kerry, This is the way to get the class off to a good start. The foundation of respect and understanding goes a long way in creating a supportive learning environment. Gary
Hi Richard, Good advice on how to approach the classroom. Yes, students want to feel accepted and comfortable in their new class. Sending a supportive attitude is important for instructors. This way the class will get off to a good start for everyone. Gary

Hi Kerry, You make a good point that college students often forget. It is their future that is being developed in the class so they need to take it very seriously in relation to effort. Having a supportive instructor is a great way to help move toward the accomplishment of career goals. Gary
Hi Mary, Good point. Listening is learning. By listening to your students you are getting insight into where they are in relation to the course and their career perspectives. Gary
Hi Michael, This is a great example of making an assignment real. You took a graphic example and gave it relevancy to their learning. This is what being an educator is all about. Thank you for sharing this strategy with us. Gary
