About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Bertram, For the volume of students and time frame I think you have a very good instructional plan developed. You are providing learning opportunities that will meet the different learning preferences of your students. Gary
Hi Clarence, Good points about establishing rapport. You are right about how many brilliant people are not able to establish rapport with students. I feel sorry for them because the biggest pay off for me as an instructor is the relationships and rapport I have with my students. The students are my legacy to the field that I get to teach about and they get to enter upon graduation. Gary
Hi Tracey, Based upon your forum comments I am assuming that you are a dedicated instructor that cares about students. This is the essence of being a professional educator. You are doing so many things to create a connection between your students and yourself. Keep up the good work with this student centered approach. Gary
Hi Katharine, Great way to send a physical and mental message to students that you care about their success. You are there to help them and they can see that with this approach. Gary
Hi Greg, I like the way you approach your subject area and then refresh your students in what they have learned. This is a sequential way of showing them what they are learning and how to apply it. Gary
Hi Annmarie, Good strategy because as you know students really like hearing examples and stories about their field. So weave these stories into the content and you are going to have engaged students for sure. Gary
Hi Jamie, Good advice for your students. They really do need to seek out and create a support system for themselves. By you showing them different formats for support systems they will be able to put together one that will help them be successful while in school. Gary
Hi Anita, I think you will like the positive feedback you get not to mention the increased engagement as a result of you following the instructional delivery format you have laid out. Gary
Hi Jessica, I like your definition of professionalism. Not only does it cover the basic soft skills but it also deals with human aspects of career success and modeling. Well done. Gary
Hi Anthony, Good points about how each learner has unique life experiences and learning preferences. By keeping both of these in mind we can plan our instruction more carefully and target specific learning needs better. Gary
