About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

John, Not uncommon with online students. They need to have ongoing reinforcement as well as feedback from the instructor as you well know. This is a good reminder for all of us that teach online courses to keep the communication coming and going throughout the course. Gary
Chonitia, This is so important because students want to know where they are in the course at all times. By having clear goals and objectives plus ongoing feedback they know where they are in the course as well as what they need to be working on. Gary
Anna-Marie, This is a good way to get shy students to become more active within the course. By getting comfortable talking with fellow students they start to build the confidence needed to become more engaged. Gary
Tunessa, Good point about post course evaluations and feedback. It is through these forms of input that our courses continue to improve each time we teach them. Gary
Bethanne, This is a great model to follow. It gives the students different role models to observe just as you mention. This way the students can see consistency between and among the different individuals involved in their training. Gary
Gina , Well said. This is what being a dedicated professional is all about. Gary
Hi Amy, Good combination and good change of pace. Both are important if you are going to keep the students engaged throughout the class. Gary
Hi John, This variety of learning options is a good idea. This way the students can use their different learning preferences throughout the class. Gary
Hi Amy, Good point and one that we instructors need to remember as we plan and delivery out content. The students need to see the connection between the course now and their future. Gary
Hi Monica, I like your excitement. I am sure you are both a good instructor and model for your culinary students. Gary
