About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Diane, Students need to see the ROI of what they are studying. By showing them the future value of what they are learning you are engaging them in their career development and future Gary
Lisa, Good plan that will greatly expand your knowledge about instructional delivery while giving you additional ideas on how to introduce your course content. Gary
Patricia, Always enjoy hearing from instructors that love their field, feel honored to be able to teach about it, and know that they are impacting lives. I wish you much continued success. Gary
Elaine, Keep up the good work in the area of "soft skill" development. These skills are critical for career success as we all know. Many times students forget this component of their career and then they have problems in the workplace. Gary
Kathryn, So true. We have to be consistent as instructors so the students will start to model this behavior in their own career development. Also, consistency will help students to respect their instructors since they know they can depend on them to follow through with what they say they will do. Gary
Lisa, This is a good point and one the students need to understand and have expertise in. The majority of the work that all of us do involves problem solving so we need to help our students to develop competence in this area. Seeing how we approach problem solving is a great way to help students develop their own methods of working through field problems. Gary
Catherine, All good ways to expand your knowledge base about how to develop as an instructor. Gary
Thao, This always a great way to gain additional perspective on instructional delivery. Good way to expand your instructional delivery knowledge base. Gary
Catherine, Good way to show your students a profile of success. You are giving them the tools and information needed to be successful so they can see individually how they can create a future for themselves. Gary
Kristina, So true and something instructors need to remember as they are completing their instructional delivery plans. This way they will take the time to look around the classroom/lab and see the setting through the eyes of the students. This will help them to make sure the environment is comfortable and ready to receive students. Gary
