About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Evelyn, You make a number of very good points but your last sentence is the most powerful for us all to remember. We may be that one and only person that has their success in mind. We need to remind them often that we do in fact care about their future if they are willing to put forth the effort it takes to be successful. Gary
Natasha, Great career plan for your students to follow. By reminding them of this list ever so often they will see that even though being a student is hard it is worth the effort due to the potential they are developing for themselves. They are creating their future. Gary
Ian, Right on with your goals strategy. I like the clarity of how you work through goal development. This makes them understandable by the students and gives them a road map for success if they are willing to put forth the effort. Gary
Kathryn, Good way to creating variety in the flow of your class. I am sure your students appreciate how you are helping them to stay focused by offering different learning strategies throughout the class session. Gary
Mary, Good way to involve the students and help them to clarify their understanding of what has just been covered. Gary
Myrthe, I like this approach. This way you are always fresh in terms of the content you want to cover and your students will appreciate the effort you have put into your planning. Gary
Lisa, Good strategy. This is a skill that many employers indicate is missing with many new employees. The more we can help our students to develop critical thinking skills the more successful they are going to be in the work place. Gary
Terry, Good point and something we need to keep in mind as we approach our instructional delivery planning. We need to be aware of different learning preferences and then offer options within the different preferences. Gary
Stelian, Great to hear about your implementation efforts. I wish you much continued teaching success. Gary
Jeff, That is what it is all about. The more the students can see themselves in the real world the more engaged they are going to be in their learning. Real world examples help this to happen. Gary
