About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Valerie, It is so much easier to build on a positive impression rather than dig out from under a negative one. This is why the planning effort to create a great first day is so important. Gary
Valerie, Knowing there instructor has had life experiences similar to them really helps to build a connection. Many times students forget that we all started as students and had to work and struggle to get where we are at. It wasn't handed to us, we earned it. Gary
Verna, This is very critical for everyone. They need to see where the course is going and what it takes to meet the requirements. Clear goals and objectives can help make that happen. Gary
Tracy, Good example of the diversity found in classes today. We need to be able to provide support to and for all of our learners providing they are willing to put forth the effort required to be successful. Gary
Ronald, This is a great way to complete a course. The students get to see the reasons why you and they worked so hard during the course. It puts everything together for them as they move out of the course. Gary
Dorothea, Good strategy for spreading out the learning opportunities. By working in these different areas the students get different exposure points that enhance their engagement and retention. Gary
Jean, Excitement is catching. The more we bring to the classroom the greater the enthusiasm level is going to be for all of the learners. Gary
Melinda, This is a most enjoyable process because you know you are making a different in the learning success of your students. You are impacting their lives and their futures by helping them make progress in their program. Gary
Dianne, This insight helps an instructor with instructional planning as well student support. The more we know the easier it is for us to target the needs of our students. Gary
LISA, Yes, we do. It is easy to neglect such students and as a result they will be gone before we know it. Gary
