About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Courtney, This instructor "sold" you on the wedding cake class as a result of enthusiasm. All of us instructors should strive to be as excited and convincing as this instructor was with our own students. Gary
Howard, Based upon your love for the language I know you had a dynamic teacher even though your first experiences with the language were not as successful as you would have liked. As I recall your grade wasn't the highest but your motivation was. This to me is the sign of a great teacher. He was able to engage you as a result of his enthusiasm for Greek. Gary
Kathryn, Good follow up. Even if they don't come back to school they know that they have someone that missed them and wants them to come back. This contact often results in them coming back to school once they have resolved their problems because they know they have support. Gary
Jeremy, Good analysis if the different types of learners and how to work with them. With the level of understanding you have of them you will be able to accurately identify and then provide the appropriate instructional content and strategies. Gary
Kathryn, Good way to establish a connection with your students. You are letting them know that you are there to support their success and this is so important. Gary
Judy, I like games as well. They are great for reviews and team challenges. Gary
Pearlmarie, Good point about the characteristics of an instructor. We need to always keep in mind the impression we are making on the students. Gary
Jennifer, Great way to express how to make a positive first impression. This creates the foundation for the development of respect and rapport with the students. Gary
Courtney, Support like this is so important for student success. They need to be able to focus on being successful while continuing to acquired the needed content and skills. By knowing you are there to help them be successful you set a positive environment for everyone. Gary
Israel, Right you are about excess in terms of lecture time or other instructional deliveries. Offer the students variety and they will stay engaged much longer. Gary
