About me

Activity

I appreciate your plan of action with these difficult scenerios. YOu are on the right track. The key to success with these situations is your approach and keeping the emotion to a minimum. Nice approach!
What a nice routine. Your work schedule produces natural stress and to compete with stress your mind has to be under control. I would suggest you read the book "Brain Rules" by John Medina. Your routine for stress relief is one of his chapters. You would be a good subject to be proud of. At work stress can be handled better if you have exercise, rest and eating right.
Suzanne, In John Medina's book "Brain Rules" mentioned the value of several activities that help people think and perform better. Putting people into a more relaxed atmosphere even when you may be talking abut critical issues is a good methodology. Good Idea! Keep it up.
Monica, You are correct with open-mindedness and forward thinking. This attribute calls for us to be good listeners. We need to allow for good brainstorming so everyone can get their thoughts out in the open. Building trust in change happens when we all have the ability to listen. Good job on your comments!
Renee, Usually change proposals are for the improvement of a company in its process. It may be necessary to hold up the current plan but it is equally important to give direction with alternative solutions or re-engineering of the current plan. Adding knowledge to enlighten your team of the necessity or not to make changes is important to give ownership around the table.
Monica, Your mention of team is essential to implementing the change necessary for resolutions. From a human behavior perspective it is not unusual to have blocks and mistrust for change. What kind of behaviors would be a give away for recognizing support or non-acceptance?
Discussion Comment
Suzanne, When making your proactive plan what types of crisis would you prepare for? With you plan what would be some of your actions for relief and resolutions?
What are the qualifications to be a change agent? You had mentioned you are a change agent. What changes have you been specifically involved? How have your peers or supervisors attemped to block an initiative?
Silence without communication is not a good sign. People have opinions and we must give them the avenues to comment. By listening it gives us the opportunity to plan better. Our plan has to involve our stake holders both internal and external. If we are not hearing them we are taking chances.
Suzanne, You are on the right track. The best communication comes from good listening. Comminication is 7% verbal, 13% body language and 80% listening. You are exactly right to not to measure all of these by listening. Your outcomes will become more positive if you can do this well difficult interactions will be easier.
