These are very good points. Half the battle of crisis is having a process in place. Another is to make sure your people have ownership in the game plan of action. Each person needs to feel they are part of the solution. Each time I have been acquainted with a crisis the best plan was one that had been shared and owned by every stakeholder in the operations.

You are exactly right. Crisis and challenges are somtimes the same. Depending on the level of risk defines. Crisis

All of your techniques are both appropriate and healthy. Some stress for our human body is good for getting the blood flowing but overstress puts pressure on all our working bodily functions. Having stressful job and recognizing it keeps us in a cognizant mode of what strategies we need to employ to keep us from over reacting and affecting our attitude and personality. Some stress arises in a crisis and requires instantaneous decisions and actions. This type of stress requires a calm, clear focus on the issue at hand. Stress can be both good and bad. The stress of physical exertion within your health limits can be very good for you. Emotional stress can be very disturbing to the life functions of the body. (blood pressure, despression, blood surgar, heart beat etc) To control this is dependent on your ability to control your brain when it signifies high emotion. This is when your rationale and reasoning places you in a mode of a decision maker and a controlled destiny of what you do next is up to you. I agree with you. It is a tough line to follow for any leader. You have recognized the difference and ghat is half the.battle.
87% of communication is listenting. Your reflection on listening is right ON! Sometimes we don't have the ability to preapare for a moment that occurs with emotion. Great leadership doesn't allow us to rise to the level of emotion that is surrounding us. We need to remain calm and have the apperance of control of the siutuation. Calmness will bring other people down to a better level of listening and thinking.

Crisis are often just what the definition for crisis pertains too. Most crisis are unforseen and requires leadership that is cool, calm and collected. I was working for a company that was raided by the Justice Deparment and investigated for 18 months. I was fortunate enough to have a great leader in a crisis. He kept us all believing in ourselves and keeping us positive in a very difficult time. In the end we all were found with no noncompliance issues. Leadership is the ability to maintain control in a tough time.

You are right with communication being the answer to many of the apprehensions of change. When we can lead with honesty and integrity it takes the sour taste out of the employees misgivings about the future.
Change can be for the better. It is important that change is a constant search for the best practices. Due to our changing environment in our work surroundings nothing stays the same. We must be willing to be forward thinkers.
