Stress under control is the goal you look for. Stress should cause all of us to focus.
Dealing with stress is absolutely related to the type of stress. Trauma is not a good emotional event. But stress for improvement is a rewarding stress if you succeed. A great healthy attitude helps with all stress. It is from your wisdom and understanding that you can face the tough issues and the everyday challenges.
Removing yourself to regroup is a healthy plan. When you reengage always keep out the emotions and think clearly. Wisdom over rules antedotal thoughts.
You are probably not a blocker but a person who requires more information and better analysis before you move forward. There is nothing wrong with being caustious but not at the expense of progress. Sometimes after analysis you need to use the research from a pilot. Nothing seems to run smoothly from the start but with fine tuning it gets better.
There is a well known leader in the development of affirmations. Lou Tice for Pacific Institute has promoted affirmations for many years. Positive is definitely healthier.
Getting away from stress is helpful. They need to prepare to return with a positive attitude.
We are products of our environment and experiences. Diversity of life is what makes our experiences motivating and sometimes stressful.
Your approach is a logical move towards resolution to a problem. I think more than waiting is your ability to listen. In most instances people will resolve their issues while someone listens to the problem. Your listening and then collaborating with the person to solve the issue is a good trait by you as a leader.
If you have the time to escape and think from a more strategic non-emotional state it is wise to do so. It is not always possible to do this but you are correct in removing yourself from the reactionary moment and do it more from a strategic thought process moment. You will always do better when you can make the decisions from a logical and unemcumbered emotional moment.
