Hi Mark: I think it's great that you consult your peers. Too often, inexperienced teachers will rely on their own wits, or are afraid to reveal they need help or could benefit from some other ideas. Hi Penelope: Yes, and these kind of activities provide that view of the application very nicely, often in a way that can't be demonstrated in a class, lab, or even at the school. Real world is very motivational. Regards, Barry

Hi Marshall: Good. Another way is to have some basic activities that can be used when whatever was planned goes awry. It's inevitable, so we might as well have something thats relatively easy to use and activate when needed. Perhaps you have something like that in place already. Regards, Barry

Hi Loren: My shorthand definition: Trnasfer of knowledge from teacher to student to achieve a purpose. That pupose may be academic, vocational, supplementary, or remedial. But our basi job is to convey what we know to our students. Regards, Barry

Hi Loren: Personally, I think students need time to review and relfect on their daily studies. I suppose if these points are added to the regular quiz points, it helps the grade. But if there are students who need to "digest" some, and do poorly, I don't think that should held against them. Now, if the pop quiz is 5 points out of 1000, and there are only a handful, that's prpobably not going to affect the overall grade that much. Regards, Barry
