Hi Louis: Good. When students realize you care, they're going to give you the same level of respect and effort in return (most of the time). Part of our job is offering encouragement and good advice for successfulness. Regards, Barry
Hi Timothy: Being prepared does take some thought, planning and effort, but I don't think it is such an overwhelming task. One just has to be regualr and consistent with organizing materials and resources, and be a good planner, which always saves a lot of time. Your desire to improve wilkl bring all these elements together over time. Hang in there, and don't lose that enthusiam! Regards, Barry
Hi Timothy: You've got a good blend of media choices. I'm sure when you add in reading, exercises, and skills labs, your students are well informed. Good Job. Regards, Barry
Hi Julie: I agree. Validation of information almost always accompanies information that is being taught in the students classes. Sometimes, I will ask the speaker to make sure they include certain topics or points I am currently focusing on. I thinks students always enjoy the "break in pace" a guest speaker brings. Regards, Barry
Hi Vinita: Yes, if student's are not aware of their progress, they are not going to have an opportunity to improve. I think frequent evaluations go a long way to reinforcing the student-teacher evaluations. Regards, Barry
Hi Julie: I think the more personal type of evaluation are more effective because it allows the teacher to fill in missing information gaps, provide assistance, or clarify expectations. We can also use that time to ecourage, motivate, and show that we care abouit the students success. Regards, Barry
Hi Ginger: I believe we are hired for our expertise, knowledge, education and experience. We are expected to provide our best for our students and our employer, and that includes being ready to deliver our lessons with accuracy, authority as someone who knows the material, and prepared to answer any questions that might come up. Students will notice our readiness and appreciate tha effort that goes into getting ready for class. Regards, Barry
Hi Ginger: You've got a good grasp (in my opinion) of what our goals are and outcomes are for students. Without a broad based goal, we could end up doing a lot of busy work and end up missing the whole purpose for students. Regards, Barry
Hi John: We can be positive role models in little doses every day so that by the time the course is completed, the sttudents have been exposed to many days of what professionaloism and preparedness can do for success in later classes or in the workforce as graduates. Unprepared can lose the respect of students and may suggest the students success is not the instructor's main focus. Regards, Barry
Hi John: Yes that can happen. Sometimes students have only vague ideas about the world of work they're being prepared for. A lively and informed guest speaker can do quite a bit towards getting students motivated and exscited about their career choice. This acftivity is very effective and I think more teachers could benefit their claases iof they used more guest speakers. However, I realize time will always be a barrier. Regards, Barry
