Hi Sharon: Prepared teachers do convey a sense of confidence and competence when all resources are together, a logical sequential daily lesson plan is mapped out, and the teacher makes the lessons or discusions interesting. Prepared mean "I'm ready", and that makes for more enjoayable classroom experiences. Regards, Barry
Hi Michael: Yes, as a "record of events", a journal can assist an instructor's perspective now and later on, for review and consideration or observation of how the teacher views situations differently. Regards, Barry
Hi Natasha: I agree an important aspect is the student's confidence in btheir instructor's knowledge and competence. Being prepared allows the teacher to express their experise most efficiently. Even competent teaches who fail to prepare can apear as not knowing their material. A degree of lost respect could result. Regards, Barry
Hi Carlos: Great use of the pretest. For me it seems every class is a bit different so my pretesting shows me where more (or less) emphasis may be needed on a given topic. Regards, Barry
Hi Carlos: Yes - sometimes it takes multiple lessons, repeated practice, and revisiting an idea before t begins to make sense. It's rare a student can learn some concepts in one lesson, although some smaler steps leading to the big picyture may be possible. Regards, Barry
Hi Kimberly: Journals truly assist teachers reflect on their personal feelings and comments about their courses. It helps the teacher and future students when veiwed at alater time. Regards, Barry
Hi Eva: Personally, I think there's few timnes EC shouyld be given at all. That said, throwing out the lowest quiz score, or maybe a bonus question on an exam are worthwhile "helpers". But points for the sake of raising the grade is not instructional to me, and I avoid isssuing it. Regards, Barry
Hi Eva: Great - and students can tell when a teaher is prepared. Organized lessons and resources coupled with an enthusiastic and prepared instructor set the stage for effective learning. Regards, Barry
Hi Mo: I think when as teachers we are able to open the mind and create a possible future and create a vision for success for our students, that's a fantanstic contribution to the students education. Few activities can do this in quite the same way as a good guest speaker or dynamic field trip experience. Regars, Barry
Hi Mo: Your situation is a challenge. I think it's the perfect use for journalizing as it will benefit you and future students when the situation ay not be as it is today. Regards, Barry
