Hi Derrick: Correct! In addition, it fosters a positive relationship between teacher and student and supports the hoped for concept that the instructor is always approachable. Regards, Barry
Hi Donna: Having lessons planned out well in advance is a great way to stay on top of what's coming down to the students. In addition, if the instructor finishes up early, they may have the opportunity to introduce the next topic early, getting a jump start on the next concept. Regards, Barry
Hi Catherine: One thought about disorganization is it may cause the student to tune out, and they end up missing the main point of a concept, and walk away missing the main idea the instructor was hoping to impart for that day. Regards, Barry
Hi Catherine: Guest speakers especially give the student another perspective about life, and perhaps the field they are studying in. It also allows the student a chance to ask questions and get answers they weren;t expecting. Regards, Barry
Hi Catherine: It most definitely can be difficult to look at constructive criticism from students, but it can be such a learning moment for oneself. Also, keeping a journal of what works and what doesn't can also show us things about ourselves for a good learning outlook. Regards, Barry
Hi Catherine: True, if we're talking about healthcare. What about other environments? Some instructors have the belief that there is a minimum concept the student should walk away with, and if they can demonstrate they have received that concept, then the learning has taken place. Regards, Barry
Hi Catherine: Being a positive role model is a strong influencing agent in the learning environment. It's important to keep emotional interests out of this environment, as that can serve as a distraction to the student if it were to come through. Regards, Barry
Hi Catherine: Good point- in this day and age, there are many ways of presenting information. It doesn't necessarily have to be in lecture format, or any specific way, as long as the learning is happening. Regards, Barry
Hi Catherine: Right - and it may also give you some insight of the type of learner your student is. While we may not have the time to create a learning plan for every student, we can group similar learning styles together. Regards, Barry
Hi Catherine: Indeed - and, it may be a good idea to do this anyway to change up the class environment from time to time. This of course is as time allows. Regards, Barry
