Hi Thomas: Natural teachers are a precious entity. Approachable and friendly, amazing knowledge and willing to share it, creative and imaginative, classes always fun and interesting. Another trait is an almost unending willingness to spend the needed time when students need or want help. We can all aspire to most of these traits even if we're not natural at it, but willing to work at it. Regards, Barry

Hi Dallan: "We can if we care!". That's my statement describing teachers who aspire to be student-centered. For me, that means personalizing instruction at every opportunity, which may need to over shadow my planned activities (teacher-centered). Conveying "I care", and then doing the follow up to be sure the same sentiment is shared by all my students is my focus. Regards, Barry

Hi William: Many times, the vocation instructor is the only teacher the student will be exposed to. Sort of like the one room school of yesteryear, we have to wear many hats to get students job ready. Teachnical skills and knowledge related to the profession is one thing, but so is professionalism, dress, speech and communication skills, behavior - all the soft skills that although the student may possess job skills, fail in the category of working in the real world.
