Hi Sunshine: And, especially in career oriented fields, students may get the chance to speak with people in their chosen field for a brand new perspective on concepts you've discussed in class. Regards, Barry
Hi Robert: Very true, in fact some institutions don't allow it at all. Regards, Barry
Hi Robert: There are probably many efficient ways to get this done. A lot of institutions are moving towards electronic gradebooks to make this process as efficient as possible. Regards, Barry
Hi John: Something important to consier is the idea of balance with this concept. We don't want to be too much of anything. Too friendly may result in a loss of control of the learning environment. To strict, just the same. Regards, Barry
Hi Amanda: Very important! If students gain confidence in the subject matter, it is a realistic expectation they will do better overall in the class. Regards, Barry
Hi Amanda: This is probably the most important concept for newer instructors to consider. It often times gets lost in the hustle and bustle of just trying to get through material in an informative way. Regards, Barry
Hi Chris: Demonstrations are nearly always a great way to reinforce practical skills. This is like repetition which usually students can't get enough of. Regards, Barry
Hi Chris: Right! When we share grade and performance data the student should understand where they're at and what needs to be done. We can give adive and suggestions (the cake), and offer support and encoragement too (the icing). Yum-yum! Regards, Barry
Hi Jill: I agree about students not ever being surprised. If we've done our job, students will always have a pretty good idea where they're at, and what needs to be done to improve their grades. Sharing course information is also a great opportunity to just care a bit, offer encouragement and be supportive. I think student apprecite knowing their teacher cares about their success and progress. Regards, Barry
Hi Stephen: Journalizing can be many things to different people. I maintain if the user sees value, then they should consider journalizing. If it's an effort and not used, then it really just a waste of time. Regards, Barry
