Hi Jeff, I think we are a tool that can begin to provide the knowledge skills, and attitudes needed for success. The students have to be responsible to take that information and translate it into tangible job readiness skills - and only they can do that. So, if we can aslo help learn to apply what they learned, we're helping them even more. Barry Westling

Goal of educating students

Hi Amber, Very nice post. Carring for our students and recognizing they are all at different levels is a wonderful attribute for a teacher to have, and helps guide individuized instruction for students who may need it. If we're talking about successful student outcomes, this has to be among those traits that produce success. Barry Westling

Hi Alissa, That "handling different obstacles" is a huge component of teaching. Getting students to think critically, not just mindlessly repeating what they've been shown ultimately separates the average student from the exceptional students. Barry Westling

Hi Sheila, Well, mistakes are going to occur. I like to refer to these as observations. If I see something and decide "whoa, I don't want to repeat that again", that's an observation, and a perfect place to note in a journal or something similar to a journal. Barry Westling

Hi Jeff, Yeah, it something can go wrong it probably will. Having all resources, handouts, copies, and related materials ready to go before class begins shows you are prepared, but also serious about your work and the lessons that are about to be delivered. Barry Westling

Hi Jennifer, Yes, and each time a teacher takes an activity and adds something of (leraning) value to it, they're giving their students more opportunity to be successful both in class and as a worker in their career or profession. Barry Westling
