Kori, Teachers are role models by default. Therefore, we assume the role with diligence and resonsibilty. Barry Westling
Paula, And students ought to be be just as cognizant! Barry Westling
Paula, Yep! They watch and learn. Too bad they would be as observant in all of their studies, eh? Barry Westling
Paula, Sure - it's an old axiom that's been around for a long time. I am not aware of any copyrights. But it's the meaning in the message that's important, and as you say, we set the tone for what our degree of successfulness will be (failure vs fulfillment). Barry Westling
Paula, If the teacher is focuesed, the students will be as well. Barry Westling
Paula, In my experience, it has been difficult not to keep the interest of a group when the presenter/facilitator/teacher is enthusisastic, upbeat, interesting, and makes the presentation enjoyable. Barry Westling
Paula, Right. This order of organization will assure that all the peices fit and a better chance student learning outcomes will be met. Barry Westling
G., We were hired for our abilities and so it becomes our resonsibility to give all we can to our students for success that we know is possible, based on our knowledge of the career area we are teaching. Barry Westling
Diane, Sure. Knowledge, career skills, and the soft skills that are often the reason younger individuals lose their jobs - not because of the technical ability, but the professionalism, attendance, courtesy, manners - basic people and work skills that somehow are not being taught in the homes of many of our students. So anything we can convey along these lines is part of the goals I have for my students, besides the hard skills and knowledge. Barry Westling
Karissa, I think there is so much going on around us that if we stop and tune in to it all, we would be flooded with ideas for improvements, needs, observations, analysis, contemplation, etc. How anyone can keep track of these wonderful pearls of information we may want to refer back to without recording or documenting them somehow is beyond me. How one chooses to record this information is as varied as the individuals. A journal, diary, or whatever we call it, it's an extremely valuable tool. Barry Westling
