Kelsey, I think that it's phenomenal you are able to get a whole course of printed resouces readied before the class begins. But when you do, as you say, you are ready for unexpected delays or when things take longer than expected. Having students write questions for discussion later is great if there is not enough time at present. Barry Westling
Kelsey, Boy I know how "informational" animal dissections can be, so I can image the great tactile, auditory, visual, and kinesthetic experiences your student must recieve working live animals. Those sensations translate into memorable, life time sensations they probably will remember all their careers. Barry Westling
Kelsey, It's nice to have caring teachers who will not settle for just mediocrity. Theres so much our students experience everyday that surrounds them with "you don't matter". Our classrooms can become a beacon of truth, inspiration, and thoughful caring that reaches out to others in the workforce and in their lives. Barry Westling
Mary, Great! Boy, if we can give confidence along with skills, knowledge and attitudes, we'll have achieved something great! Barry Westling
Kelsey, It's a wonderful feeling to know we have made a positive contribution in ones life. You're right, we can fulfill the school mission, but that doesn't mean we have to limit our expectations we have for our students. That hope for greatness is the key to instilling great creativity and accomplishment in the students we have for the short time we have them. Barry Westling
Kelsey, Nothing wrong with lab. Students who get to perform hands on activities often learn more by that methgod than by auditory or visual learning only. Barry Westling
Patricia, Great! I think emulating someone else probably stems from some insecurity experienced along the way. Nonetheless, we will be giving students less than what we are capable of if we are insincere or pretentious. Oh, and Mr. Ego, please step aside! Barry Westling
Patricia, Yeah, like the saying, "it's the journey, not the destination". Inspiring students to be lifelong learners is a terrific goal to shoot for, and kudo's to you and others who achieve this awesome learning outcome. Barry Westling
Kelsey, Yep! Teachers wjho journalize find great benefit (usually later on) as they reflect on past events, observations, and comments made. It can be a measure of groth (or indicate lack of). Barry Westling
Kelsey, Weaknesses can be just as important too, if we allow ourselves the opportunity for self anaysis, and a willingness to make improvements. This can be done in the classroom in small steps until what once was a weakness has become a stronger attribute. Barry Westling
