Hi David: Yes! Building relationships resulting in gaining respect. Along with with solid content knowledge, these two attributes can contribute much to getting students successfully through their studies. Regards, Barry
Hi Thomas: I think anything interactive such as you've described is going to work and keep the students interested. Regards, Barry
Hi William: Using a grading rubric that address all of the student learning outconmes will usually work out the best. Regards, Barry
Hi Thomas: In most classess, the teacher has to be regarded as the expert. Of course, they don't have to be a walking textbook - in fact, that's why we have the textbooks, to back up the core knowledge. Regards, Barry
Hi David: I think if an individual cares about the quality of their work and also displays a genuine interest in the people they're reponsible for, they'll be effective. Regards, Barry
Hi James: You got it! More variety will always add to your lesson. When students use more senses in their learning, they're more likely to retain the information. Regards, Barry
Hi Bob: True, we can nearly always improve on activities invovled in education. But we also can keep in the mind the sentitment to seek excellence, not perfection. Thinking like that will help students and help us to "make their day!" Regards, Barry
Hi Bernard: Yes, definitely, a focused delivery will be the result when instructors know their strengths and areas needing improvement - and are willing to make those adjustments. Regards, Barry
Hi Jim: Good points made! I have refered to what you've described as getting on the same wave length. Of course this goes both ways - instructor-to-student and student-to-instructor. But when there is that connection, the results are likely to be worthwhile and productive. Regards, Barry
Hi Misty: I think really good tests and assessments are very chalenging activities. Many instructors and institutions will provide student learning outcomes (SLO's) that are discussed and provided to students at the beginning of a class. Then, measuring a student's performance against these predetermined SLO's help assure the instructor is being fair and assessing only what is appropriate to assess based on those SLO's. Others will use grading rubrics that define exactly how a grade will be determined. Both of the are good because they clearly state what is to learned and how the student will be graded. Regards, Barry
