Hi Kenneth: It's good to be aware of our personalities and perceptions we convey to students. Better is the willingness to be flexible or open regarding adapting when what we usually do isn't working as planned. That better defines a mature, balanced instructor. Good for you! Regards, Barry
Hi James: You're right. There are so many potential media resources, care and thought really have to go into what respouces will prove to be most beneficial. Sometimes, when we try something new, we can surprised at how effective it is. Of course, that can work the other way as well. Regards, Barry
Hi Anthony: Well, good. I know some company policy prohibits the use or resources that students or instructors may find educational. You're right, we need to stay within the boundries of our employers policies. Regards, Barry
Hi Rob: Good, I'm glad that we're able to reinforce good ideas that have proven successful in the past. Regards, Barry
Hi Charles: Yes, sometimes an instructor will have favorite students, individuals they appreciate being around more than others in the class. And though there may be favorites, we can't treat them any different, especially when it comes to grading. No student should ever feel that others in the class are getting preferential traetment. Regards, Barry
Hi Charles: Wow, you are fortunate to have such ample flexibility - not all do. I'm sure your students benefit by you tailoring the daily lesson to the "best-fit" plan for the day. Regards, Barry
Hi Stan: Whats good here is some flexibility in your approach to individual classes. Too much flexibility can lead to varied student outcomes. Sometimes, it's too late to correct a plan once enacted. So, I'd say stick to a basic framework and then individualize from there. Perhaps, that is exactly what you do. Regards, Barry
Hi Stan: Good concept..."floating". Suggests going with the flow of circumstances, class attention, interest, availability of resources, student performance, etc. Thanks for sharing! Regards, Barry
Hi Gary: I think people like order, even if it comes in the form of a teacher giving assignments or directions. Order helps establish waht is expected. Clearer expectations leads to better student outcomes. Regards, Barry
Hi Rob: You've listed a few good points about evaluation systems. Consistency is very important, as is being fair. Following the same grading guidelines for all students should assure this is accomplished. Regards, Barry
