Hi Blake: Your experience shows. I think all newer faculty have had to learn their lesson regarding planning, timming, and use of resources - all within the dynamic environment of the classroom and the ever varible student behaviour and performance. Your quiz strategy is a clever way to use your time to it's optimum. Regards, Barry
Hi Blake: Great. Keeping your lessons and associated media tied to learning objectives seems to provide the best opportunity for students to achieve their learning needs. As you state, mixing it up is also a great way to keep students interested. Regards, Barry
Hi Kelly: Good idea!. Planning based on past performance or circumstances seems like a rational approach to being prepared for the future. Even our best efforts will fail at times, but tring to anticipate adverse situations can only help student outcomes. Regards, Barry
Hi Blake: True - adult learners are different and better teachers try to understand their differences from say, younger adults. Life experience have taught older workers responsibility, accountability and cooperation, skills that some other groups are often missing. Regards, Barry
Hi Beth: Yes, group dynamics can be an important factor on student success so your effort in choosing media that closely matches the consensus of your class is a better way to attempt to get your point across. I agree that you are being more personal in this manner, and that helps the students feel better about their learning. Regards, Barry
Hi Maureen: Good! Establishing positive relationships at the outset is very helpful. Conveying your confidence also sets the tone for you and your class expectations. Regards, Barry
Hi Gary: Good thinking!. Keeping students busy during down times or when there is extra time is always better than wasting time on some unrelated activity. Regards, Barry
Hi Beth: I think being real is always a better choice when interacting with students. You're right, they can tell. And I think if they feel their teacher is being sincere and honest, that'll create a more positive learning environment. Regards, Barry
Hi Teri: Very telling and personal insight. Thank you for sharing. Regards, Barry
Hi Evan: Great! I'm sure you find younger students are more oriented to the digital media. But I find older students feel a greater sense of accomplishment from digital lessons and resources, perhaps more so that their younger classmates. Feeling good about learning helps contribute to the student's overall feeling of well being. Regards, Barry
