Hi Craig: I have found awarding extra credit to be among the most controversial actions teachers administer. Some agree and use it while others disagree and forbid it. It really varies. I do think students should be made aware of the grading policies at the very beginning of the course, in writing, and then following exactly by all (students and teachers alike). Regards, Barry

Hi Danny: Yes, pretesting can give you an idea where your students are. It also provides a mens for feedback, tracking progress, and instilling confidence in the students ability to learn material they may be weak in. Regards, Barry
Hi Danny: Using a business edxample is a good idea. When students can picture themselves as succesful workers in their chosen profession they are much more likely to want participate in their studies. Regards, Barry
Hi Danny: Good organization is always helpful. Making it meaningful and full of life is our job as instructors. We can do that by being open, willing to spend time and be patient, and keeping the lessons interesting. Regards, Barry
Hi Craig: Keeping students engaged ca be a challenge for sure. When students feel you are enthusiastic, have their interest at heart, and want to help them, that's a good start. Keeping things interesting by relating to the lesson to their profession is one great way to keep students engaged. Regards, Barry
