Hi Cindy: I think it's great that you relate your classroom lessons and teaching to what industry standards and expectations dictate. And getting your students to that "trainable" mentality is terrific! Regards, Barry
Hi Cindy: Good point. I really believe the more honest and real we are, the better chance we have of connecting with students in a more personal way. When instructors are confident and real, even if they arn't the most popular, at least students can count on consistent, relevant interactions, which may contribute to a more stable classroom experience. Regards, Barry
Hi Cindy: Yeah, planning to involve students in their learning can be quite a creative exercise. We can't always integrate all the senses in every lesson, and sometimes one or two sensory points are emphasized over others. But here is the ideal opportunity to think outside the box and get creative. Students will respond more to their learning when it seems fun and related to the topic. Regards, Barry
Hi Arlene: I think a good curriculum that has preceded conducting the course is important. The planning and thoroughness that accompanies a comprehensive lesson or course should allow for the best outcomes. The variables are media choices, delivery methods, and determination by the students. If we can keep them interested, we may be able to inspire them to soar in their profession following completion. Regards, Barry
Hi Arlene: I agree - the internal vision many students have about their potential workplace or work environment can be stimulated by many activities, among them field trips. One important point is to attain relevance to the relative time consuming event by doing what we can to meet one or more of the student learning outcomes. Then, the experience is not just icing, but the whole decorated cake! Regards, Barry
Hi Carlos: Application of theoretical concepts completes the cycle of of learning, that being putting the knowledge to work. As you say, if your students can be instilled with confidence too, that will only make them more marketable. Regards, Barry
Hi Carlos: I agree and think that students do look to their instructor as role models. So, beside academic lessons, we also have an opportunity to create good citizenship, courtesy, and respect. Regards, Barry
Hi Janet: I like your comment about having your students teach others. TYhis is by far the best way for students to learn, presuming they have the resources`and correct information to share. Regards, Barry
Hi Janet: Time tracking is very important. Your use to assist you the next go around is very practical. Some instructors also find that jotting ideas for introducing new or different delivery methods or media is a helpf use of journalizing as well. Regards, Barry
Hi Sarah: Integrating multia-media choices such as you describe blends multiple senses, involves different leqarning styles, and seems to keep interest by using contemporary material. Awesome! Regards, Barry
