Hi Candy: I think you've said everything I could say. Students like teachers who are prepared and organized. It'll help build respect and trust. The opposite is probably also true, but I don't like to ficuus on the negative. Regards, Barry
Hi Richard: I believe frequent (daily) quizxes that are short and essentially review the previous days work help me the most. Frequency is like practice, and practice makes perfect, so they say! Regards, Barry
Hi Richard: Good use of pretesting. Information about the students, information for you to use for planning; information for students to get motivated about what they already know or will be learning. Win-win! Regards, Barry
Hi Joycelyn: Good examples. I think preparation is is a basic trait that all instructors are accountable for. Being orgainzed demonstrates to the students the teacher is ready and is taking the course and the student learning serious. I also think students appreciate teachers that are very organized - less clutter they have to worry about. Regards, Barry

Hi Mona: I think your specific content area you teach in is a wonderful "lab" for utilizing the power of sensory stimulation in learning. It probably could be designed into a course because theres so much benefit to students. For your question about smell, I am going to suggest sight to augment smell. For instance, you could blindfold your students, pass around different fabrics or materials, and by touch smell, malleability, etc., have them try to describe the sample item. I could see this helping them describe a fabrics texture later on to clients based on this learning tool. Regards,… >>>

Hi James: Great! I think this one example of how good back up plans shouyld work. Simple, little to no preparation, low tech, can be called into action at any time. Regards, Barry
Hi Terri: Teachers can be the best role models to students and future workers about they way and methods to be orgaized in their approach to work. We have an opportunity every day we have them as students to show how it's done. We don't even have to call attenetion to it - I think students pick up on organized and dsiorganized students pretty quick. Regards, Barry
Hi James: Many teachers would possess simililar sentiments. I think extra credit can be done fairly, but the question is should be done at all? If all is explained clearly at the beginning, and students are given the resources to do the work then their grade should be reflected on the work they do. Regards, Barry
Hi James: Good point. Helpful to both student and instructor. Sticking to the objectives will assure the essential material is being assessed too. Regards, Barry
Hi Terri: Keeping the focus on the business world or work the student is preparing for seems like it would always be a good topic of discussion. Regards, Barry
