My biggest takeaway from this module is the importance of clearly setting expectations for students about how class sessions will be structured. When students understand how their time in class will be spent they feel more prepared and engaged.

This module was very helpful. This module helped me understand the importance of clearly identifying what I want to measure before selecting an assessment method. I also learned the value of experimenting with alternative assessments to find approaches that benefit both instructors and students.

One key takeaway from this module is the critical role communication and soft skills play in career success. Research shows that ineffective communication and interpersonal skills cost people more opportunities than a lack of technical ability, making it essential for instructors to hold students to professional standards in both written and oral communication.

My takeaway from this module is the importance of using questions to actively engage students during lecture. I am looking forward to incorporating tools such as polling platforms, a Google Slides “Parking Lot,” and Poll Everywhere to increase student participation and interaction.

My takeaway from this module is the importance of incorporating activities into my lectures and labs that address different learning styles. I will need to be creative when designing activities for each course, but I am confident this can be done effectively.

My takeaway from this course is how much repetition it takes to truly learn a skill, up to 45 repetitions. This is especially important for lab courses, and I will encourage my students to practice as much as possible. Having a concrete understanding of how many repetitions are needed helps set realistic expectations for skill mastery.

My take away from this course is that it is important to assess at the midpoint of the course to help students get back on track while there is still time.

My takeaway from this module is the importance of providing positive, encouraging feedback on student assignments. I will be intentional about offering constructive feedback that supports student growth and learning.

Completing this module helped me better understand the instructor’s role when students face hardships, such as difficulty securing basic needs or managing conflicts outside of the course that affect their academic performance.

This module was very interesting. The most surprising fact to me was learning that distance education has existed since the 1700s. I found this mind-blowing because I had always thought of distance learning as a modern concept. It is exciting to see how far the technology has evolved and how it now allows us to deliver richer, more accessible learning experiences to students.
