in my experience i have often felt intimidated with teaching students older than me. im 30 and some of my students are sometimes 20 years older..anyuone else have this problem??

this class helped a bunch as a new instructor, i now have lecture styles and knowledge of what suits me as an instructor

i often have students have their bpook open to the material im covering...figures and tables put a visual to what im lecturing, i feel students soak in information better that way.
i made up an enitire game like jeopardy to get my students involved and they learned a ton from it and got to know each other..also it helped eliminate classroom anxiety

i find that the more i teach a particular class, the less time i spend on lesson plans
does anyone else find it difficult at times to establish boudaries. i find that i see my students more than my own family, so i find it difficult to not share personal experieneces and everyday life with them..its a good thing becuase they end up being extememly comfortable and i can relate to them. but the downside is you tend to lose respect and authority.
Exit interviews are very important and can be very helpful to the institution. it provides negative and positive feedback to further help the school or institution in the future.
I belive its important to keep in mind that the student is a person and not just a customer..in a society all about money, its important to remember that they are there for an education, and they paid for it.

i dont think simply asking the student for a referall is going too far. Pushing the envelope is acceptable without seeming to desperate or coming on too strong.
