Activity

Take on only one task at a time. Once finished with that task, move down your list until you have completed all of them. I have found that writing down all of the tasks that I have in front of me helps to organize and lower my stress level.

Going for a short walk sometime during your day can help also. Just to get outside and breathe fresh air will help to clear your mind. Also, think about your plans during your time off. Go over those plans in your mind and refine them as needed. I know that last… >>>

We can control our stress by first identifying the causes. Stress can affect both our professional and personal lives. Something that I have been working on for years is to create a better work/life balance.

Set a schedule for your day. Remember to be flexible with that schedule. Maybe check your emails before and after class and not during.

I have been in my industry for 35 years and had to learn the hard way about time management. I have been using flashcards as long as I remember. This has helped me more than I could state here. Writing down all of the tasks that I need to complete, helps me organize these tasks and assign them a priority. This also helps with the stress level that I may feel when looking at all that I have on my plate.

Expect to fail. We all fail at something in our lifetime. We have to take that failure and learn from it.  It will take time to build the confidence in a teaching environment. The more you do something the better you get at it.

If a student is being disruptive in class, take to time to listen to the student and learn why they feel the need to disrupt the class. It may not be you. It could be outside factors that are causing the behavior.

I have learned new ways to deal with student behaviors, both good and bad. Treating all the students with the same respect and attention may help set a tone in the class for the "center stage student" to understand that other students are just as important as them.

To help students understand the requirements of the class, the instructor should have clear instructions on topics to be covered and due dates for all assignments. This will help to lower the students pre-course anxiety.

This lesson helped me to understand the different types of assessments that are available to use. These tests are more for understanding the student's comprehension of the material than just a grade. It also helps the instructor know if what they are teaching is getting through to the students.

This will help me to better understand the needs of the students and how well they are understanding the information that I am teaching.
