Disabilities that aren't visible can be harder to identify but are equal when needing accommodations.

I have learned the difference between emotional support and service animals. They are not the same and only one has a legal standing. I also learned how our laws need to be amended to our present day. For example, the fact that years ago Asperger's wasn't recognized and now it is a legitimate diagnosis.

I have learned that all three Title IX, the Violence Against Women Act, and the Clery act are pieces of legislation in the United States that address issues related to gender based violence and campus safety. Furthermore, I learned VAWA specifically addresses domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The way to apply it at work is to always know who your Title IX representative is so that you may refer any possible misconduct to the school.

Some learners may find it difficult to develop informal relationships in an e-learning environment.

Identifying the learning styles of your students will help you identify behaviors so you can modify discussions and determine whether it is appropriate to be synchronous or asynchronous.

 

The importance of establishing your presence and authority froma distance. Getting to know the needs of your students. Mutual biographies to know each other.

Becoming familiar with the content is key to understanding the intellectual interaction. Retention levels are positively correlated to the amount of mental effort.

Adult learners have one predominant learning style. Integrate different delivery methods of the course contents. Keeps them engaged and addresses the variance in learning.

You have only one opportunity to make a first impression that is why "purposeful prior planning prevents poor performance".

Be prepared, be on time, set the example. You are responsible to learn the "prescribed content".
