Activity

Pamela, The storing of large amounts of long-term memory information for immediate retrieval in emergency circumstances can be very useful. The discipline to continuously accumulate (add to) that storehouse can often payoff in the long run. Dr. S. David Vaillancourt
Pamela, Stretching the limits, in a logical manner, is a key part of good critical thinking. Very good. Dr. S. David Vaillancourt
Amie, It is tough for many to rely on words without the assistance of the non-verbal communications. It just takes a bit more deliberate choice of veribage, at first, inj the online classroom. Your care for the students will shine through in either environment. Dr. S. David Vaillancourt
Amie, Creating a learning community by engaging students in a one to many dynamic is often very helpful. The peer engagement component is a great one to foster. Very good. Dr. S. David Vaillancourt
Amie, Yes, setting high expectations is one key to excellence in education, whether it is online or in the traditional classroom. Very good recommendation. Dr. S. David Vaillancourt
Nathan, That is a good 'key' to remember. You never know when that last minute effort will payoff. Dr. S. David Vaillancourt
John, All good points. Being ex-Army, I agree. My 'new tool' is texting. I seem to get better responses from some of my students than when I leave a voicemail. I wonder if others experience the same. Dr. S. David Vaillancourt
Nathan, I agree on all points. The Apple initiatives into education will continue to add significant activities into this (already buzzing) sector. Good post. Thanks. Dr. S. David Vaillancourt
John, Good rationale. I agree that anything over 25-30students has a strong tendancy to dtract from the overall engagement of individuals. Dr. S. David Vaillancourt
John, Yes, there is current research indicating the hybrid (combined online and traditional) has benefits over either individual approach, when structured properly. Dr. S. David Vaillancourt
