Activity

Feedback can be formal or informal.  Informal feedback includes feedback on discussion board postings, feedback requested via a quick email from a student, or formative assessments.  Formal feedback is typically provided in conjunction with a rubric and more detailed, lengthy feedback is developed.

I learned that scaffolding provides structure for student learning and focus for student activities.

Chunking is defined as creating smaller units of information that are also coordinated with larger units, modules, or courses.  This is beneficial for student learning as the learner typically loses focus while watching a video that is longer than 5-10 minutes.  Good to know.

Good point- excessive workload is quite common in situations in which learners pursue career education programs while engaged in full-time employment. Some learners may underestimate the time and effort required to complete the online course they have selected.

Good tip

  • Remember to allot time for socializing at the beginning and parting remarks at the end of the session.

One of the most effective ways to begin building an e-learning community is to ask students to post a short biography of themselves.  This is very helpful for both faculty and student.

Online learning requires a solid learning platofrm from which to deliver modules. This will be soemthing I keep in focus.
