I learned how to encourage participation in the different types of discussion formats.  I also learned how to recognize some of the different on line learning styles.  I will use the information to assist me in structuring discussion forums in ways that are appropriate for the learning goals and to interact with my students with relevant feedback that encourages their ongoing participation.

In this module I learned the importance of setting up a flow of communication with the students from the beginning of the course by introducing myself and establishing my presence and authority.  I also learned some techniques for developing relationships with students and communicating with them effectively.

I learned the importance of consistency in setting up courses and course modules to facilitae learning while reducing confusion.  Also testing out course modules with an objective third party before launching and correcting issues will make the experience much smoother for students.

In an e-learning environment it is critical for the teacher to be well prepared before beginning the class.  I have never taught an online class before, so my preparation will need to be very thorough.  I would want to take the student orientation as mentioned in the material so that I am understanding what my students will be expected to accomplish.
