I do think that faculty should be qualified to teach the subject matter. I have a IT degree in information systems, I would not know how to walk in a classroom and teach English but maybe math. It helps the students know that the college is credible for the purpose it is serving. Some colleges offer IT certifications and instructors don't have them because when the instructor was enrolled and graduated the educations system changed. Should we be forced to take the IT certs like the students are required? I say no but going forward in the IT degrees, I… >>>

protection disclosure for military

As I was reading some of the information about military students. The students have rights if they are deployed to be absent from class. What is written in stone for this issue? I have noticed at some colleges, they can go on leave of absence from school and some have classes removed from there degree plans.

Not that I am aware of but I use google to call the students that are long distance.

Enrollment

As an instructor, we need enrollment to cover the details for a student to understand the courses especially online. Other than the orientation, I think it would be nice for the enrollment counselor to actually know what the student will be doing during orientation. I am not saying that this is not happening but sometimes student think online is flexible and they can turn assignments in anytime they want but there are deadlines.

Hello, How does everyone feel about using skype to contact students when they need help? This is a part of the social media. I have a time getting them to answer the calls when I call them to introduce myself to them in class.

Faculty background and qualifications

I learned faculty are required to have at least a Masters degree, does that mean the faculty need the Master degree to teach the submect content? I do understand the need for a background check and faculty should have background check before being hired.

Federal regulations

Under the new federal regulations, schools will be not longer required a track program by CIP,I did not even know about tis concept until the training.

If a student withdraw onging contact is made up to 18 months. In the training, I would not have know that a student can still be contacted this long.
