This was an interesting module that breaks down instructor management styles into four classifications. The graphics were entertaining too.

We as instructors often imagine worst-case issues that never happen. It's best to be prepared as much as you can, laugh at yourself sometimes, and learn from the mistakes.

These are good suggestions on student behavior corner-cases. The angry student requirement to write down their complaint with a deadline for submittal is a good one.

The Harvard Business College video was good. A slight look askance can speak volumes to a student.

The late assignments suggestions were informative. It is critical to set expectations on assignments upfront and not wavier when the excuses roll around.

I teach analog electronics. We will go through about half the course with lectures, class discussions, and labs on transistor biasing, transistor amplifiers, etc. essentially laying out the foundation of transistor operation. Then the second half of the course the students will works at their own pace developing a transistor circuit with output specification that need to be met (gain, output voltage, etc). I will be a guide for them as they run into trouble, or have questions, and they can collaborate in small groups. Then, as course end, each student is required to explain to me the operation of… >>>

To solve a problem: Define, Analyze, List Solutions, Plan of Action, Evaluate.

The story about Dave Thomas (Wendy's) was good - and excellent example of reflective thinking.

Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck. This module expanded those criteria to include breath oxygen (a mechanical duck doesn't need oxygen) and flap it's wings (a duck without wings is not a duck, apparently) and must be a good swimmer (an average swimmer misses the mark as a duck, I guess).

190k journals published a month and 70k books a year- I wish they would have the reference for that or they are just guessing/estimating?
