John, Leave of Absence is critical piece of information that needs to be discussed in the beginning. If you conduct a thorough interview you are able to uncover any red flags. Cindy Bryant
John, Interesting approach. I have heard of admissions asking for referrals after teh interview but not before. This seems like a good way to insure that the student is serious. Cindy Bryant
John, I believe that it is best to err on the side of caution. I can appreciate the fact that you actually delete the information to avoid a mishap. Cindy Bryant
Whitney, Never underestimate the dynamics of a team environment. It can be a very motivating experience that bonds a work group together. Cindy Bryant
Karen, The personal recognition is so very important to employees. It is amazing and refreshing to hear that a busy CEO was so down to earth that he would take the time to sit with his employees at lunch. Cindy Bryant

Summer, In reference to career services exits this is the right approach. You will be able to have better communication lines if you treat the student with respect. Cindy Bryant
Whitney, While having the student conduct their own research is the right thing to do-reconsider assisting the student with making a decision based off of another's school information. This could easily turn into a situation where you could be perceived as disparaging the other school. Keep caution on your side. Cindy Bryant

Luis, You are right, the biggest hurdle in exit interviews is obtaining "good" references. Cindy Bryant

Billy, You raise a valid point. CBS news ran a report about frustrated employers of skilled trades and according to the report-by the year 2012 it's estimated this country will be three million skilled workers short, and it's not just in manufacturing sector. A recent survey found 22 percent of American businesses say they are ready to hire if they can find the right people. Skilled labor could become our Achilles heel. Cindy Bryant
