Ronald, I really see the public school problem perpetuating itself. The "No Child Left Behind" policy requires all government-run schools receiving federal funding to administer a state-wide standardized test annually to all students. This means that all students take the same test under the same conditions. Schools which receive Title I funding through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 must make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in test scores (e.g. each year, its fifth graders must do better on standardized tests than the previous year's fifth graders). The problem I see is that if the student is a poor… >>>

James, The idea of a FAQ time is a great one. Have you ever considered using the catalog for this purpose? Cindy Bryant

Sean, Thank you for asking the question. In my opinion one of the best practices is to hold exit interviews at the same time each month or semester. This depends on your school's schedule. In doing so students are always aware that the exits will be coming up at an appointed time. Another best practice is to hold the exit prior to the student attending intern/externships. This helps to avoid the student 'disappearing' after extern. Who else can assist Sean with best practices? Cindy Bryant
Cory, Hi! You mention that all past and current students receive a catalog with the disclosures. I am very interested in how this task is accomplished. Could you explain? Cindy Bryant

LaTanya, You have great understanding of the importance of having multiple parties represented at the exit. Many schools make the exit an event with FA/Student Services/Career Services and Campus Management present to ensure that everything is received and to wish the student well. Cindy Bryant

Cherie, Welcome to the forum! You may not be aware but the financial aid exits must be rather formal there is usually paper work that needs to be signed and documented in the student file. This documentation is critical in the event that there is a audit or review. In addition the information given the student at time of exit assists the schools in their attempt to lower their cohort default rates. Cindy Bryant
