Wayne, I believe that a simple approach to the school's information is the key to avoiding misrepresentation. Ah, but remember simple does not mean disregarding certain information, this can be seen as misrepresentation as well. Cindy Bryant

Melvin, Hi, I tend to agree with you. Instructors play various roles in a typical classroom, but surely one of the most important is that of classroom manager. Effective teaching and learning cannot take place in a poorly managed classroom. If students are disorderly and disrespectful, and no apparent rules and procedures guide behavior, chaos becomes the norm. In these situations, both instructors and students suffer. Teachers struggle to teach, and students most likely learn much less than they should. In contrast, well-managed classrooms provide an environment in which teaching and learning can flourish. Cullen, Hi. You mentioned integrity. For many integrity requires the courage to do what is right despite popular opinion. Employees who practice integrity in the workplace support what is morally right and what the business represents to its staff and to its student base. Members of admissions, for example, must truthfully represent programs or services offered by the school. They must keep their word to their students because it is the right thing to do and because their word is the school's word. Integrity requires consistent practice which eventually becomes the schools ethical mantra. Cindy Bryant

Kit, Thank you for participating in the forum. There was a time that a person's word was their bond. I agree that if we bring our moral values to work daily we will encounter a higher level of success. Cindy Bryant

Melvin, As an instructor managing the classroom is the first critical step in providing students the opportunity to learn. It is great to hear from an instructor that has the classroom management system covered. Cindy Bryant

Wayne, You have mentioned several key points. The Penn State scandal was a tragedy for the entire educational system. It would take any school years or decades to recover from this type of media attention. For years teachers and administrators in public education have been exposed to the open records act with little or no effect. How do you see the salary publications as negative publicity? Wendy, No matter what our given profession, we will always run across consumers who cannot be satisfied. Generally, through listening to the student carefully a person is able to discern what is and is not valid. Cindy Bryant

Maurice, Welcome to the forum! Many times students are given access to the Campus Crime Report but fail to review the information. Having the students read and sign an attestation is a best practice. Cindy Bryant
